Early Years Explorers – Seasons – Thu 22 Jun 2017

Early Years Explorers – Activities for children aged two to five years old which include songs, stories, games and craft activities. Sessions are based on familiar preschool play areas, which are enhanced to help children learn about the gallery’s collections and exhibitions through play. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the Early Years curriculum.

Seasons – Play with the inflatable sun, put the leaves on the season’s tree and listen to story about summer.

Guide’s Gallery Talk – Thu 22 Jun 2017

Date: Thursday 22 June 2017, 11:45 am - 3:00 pm
Venue: York Castle Museum

Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

Please note that talks are subject to the availability of our guides.

Volunteer’s Gallery Talk – Thu 22 Jun 2017

Venue: York Castle Museum

Join one of our knowledgeable volunteers every Tuesday and Thursday for a free talk from 12pm. The subject will vary but will relate to one of the displays in the museum.

Please note that as these talks are volunteer-led, we cannot guarantee that they will always take place. Please ring ahead on 01904 687687 or check with our Welcome Team on arrival in case of cancellation.

Albert Moore, the Pre-Raphaelites and James McNeill Whistler – Thu 22 Jun 2017

Join Professor Liz Prettejohn from the History of Art department at the University of York for a fascinating look at Albert Moore, the Pre-Raphaelites and James McNeill Whistler in conjunction with York Art Gallery’s current exhibition of Albert Moore’s work.

This event takes place in the TA Hall at the Yorkshire Museum.
