Come and meet costumed characters from York’s sweet past on Kirkgate, our recreated Victorian street. Look out for Sir Joseph Terry, Joseph Rowntree and Mary Ann Craven who will tell you about their world famous chocolates and sweets.

Potential objects of treasure, as defined by the Treasure Act 1996, must be reported to the coroner within 14 days of discovery. Our Finds Liaison Officer based at the Yorkshire Museum can advise and facilitate the reporting of treasure.

Bring your finds and meet our PAS Officer today between 10am and 1pm (no need to book).

As part of the Eboracum Roman Festival, enjoy daily Roman Ghost Cellar Tours at Treasurer’s House in York. Tours take place 1-4 June each day at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm lasting approx. 30 minutes.

Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.
