Meet the People – Sun 4 Jun 2017

Come and meet costumed characters from York’s sweet past on Kirkgate, our recreated Victorian street. Look out for Sir Joseph Terry, Joseph Rowntree and Mary Ann Craven who will tell you about their world famous chocolates and sweets.

Eboracum Roman Festival Archaeology Tent – Sun 4 Jun 2017

Venue: York Museum Gardens

Come along and take part in a range of archaeological activities with the professional archaeologists from Archaeological Services WYAS. Have a go at digital 3D modelling of Roman objects and geophysical surveying of the York Museum Gardens.

Roman Living History Camp – Sun 4 Jun 2017

The sights, sounds and smells of Roman Eboracum come to life! Come and meet the Legionary soldiers and their families in a colourful tented camp and learn about their weapons, armour, lifestyle, beliefs, food and more.

Kate Haywood: Hoard Workshops – Sun 4 Jun 2017

Venue: York Art Gallery

Choose and assemble a work of art from a range of mysterious components, inspired by Kate’s work and by archaeological finds. Kate will choose a selection of the work created on the day to include in her forthcoming Project Gallery exhibition.

Sessions run 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3.30pm.

A Box of Hope – Sun 4 Jun 2017

Roman Ghost Cellar Tour at Treasurer’s House – Sun 4 Jun 2017

As part of the Eboracum Roman Festival, enjoy daily Roman Ghost Cellar Tours at Treasurer’s House in York. Tours take place 1-4 June each day at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm lasting approx. 30 minutes.

Guide’s Gallery Talk – Sun 4 Jun 2017

Venue: York Castle Museum

Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

York Museum Garden Tours – Sun 4 Jun 2017

Venue: York Museum Gardens

Meet inside the Museum Street gates and gain an insight into one of the most popular gardens in York. The gardens contain a wealth of plant life, botanical specimens and wildlife, as well as the spectacular ruins of St Mary’s Abbey and the Roman Multangular Tower. Our knowledgeable guides will show you the highlights of this truly unique garden.

Tours start at 1pm every Sunday and last approximately one hour.
