Date: Sunday 11 June 2017, 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Venue: York Castle Museum
We know that our museum can be loud and busy at times, so at 9.30am until 11.30am we will put our lights on full and turn off all the sound effects so it’s a less overwhelming environment for our visitors. You’ll still be able to visit all the galleries, but there will be no dark areas and no sudden sounds.
We will still have guides on Kirkgate in Victorian costume and we will still put on the films in the prison gallery, but we’ll warn you in advance if you are about to go into an area where a film may start suddenly. We’ll also have a quiet space available should you need it.
Take a look at our visual stories available online so you know what to expect.
The event is free for visitors with autism, dementia, visual impairments or similar issues. Carers and children under 17 will also be admitted for free. Accompanying members of a group will be admitted for £5, and standard admission is £10. There is no need to book ahead.
