Suffragettes Volunteers Talk

This year marks the centenary of the 1918 Representation of the People Act, which gave the vote to some women in Britain. York Castle Museum volunteers Emma Flint and Elizabeth Shaw have been helping to research the history of women’s suffrage. Emma and Elizabeth will be presenting their findings in a series of free talks throughout the year titled ‘Unstoppable Women: The Suffragettes in York’.

Talks take place in the Home Front section of our exhibition ‘1914: When the World Changed Forever’.

14 March – David Alexander (prints expert and Honorary Keeper of Prints at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge) will give a talk on prints in York Art Gallery’s collection as well as prints from his own collection.

This talk has been organised by the Friends of York Art Gallery but non-members are welcome to attend.
