Join our Suffragette character on the cobbles of our Victorian street, Kirkgate, to hear York’s own story of suffrage and local connections to life.

This activity is part of York’s International Women’s Week and takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 to 22 March 2018, 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm.

Mindfulness Based Creativity Course

Week seven of an 8-week course providing an exploration of mindfulness meditation, with creative writing and drawing exercises in each session. Your tutors will be Dr Lauri Bower from York MBSR, and professional artist Clare Belbin-Carlile.

The course takes place on Tuesdays 10am to 12.30pm from 23 January to 20 March 2018.

£275 for the 8 weeks (gallery admission not included).

YPS Lecture - Discovering Dinosaurs in Britain

The Yorkshire Philosophical Society regularly host lectures in the Tempest Anderson Hall at the Yorkshire Museum.

In this lecture, palaeontologist and author Dean Lomax takes us on a journey back to the amazing British dinosaur finds that sparked the original dinomania. From the ‘invention’ of dinosaurs to the great granddad of T. rex, he reveals the most incredible dinosaur discoveries, including the recent identification of new species and some incredibly rare finds.

Free (donations welcomed), no need to book.

This is a joint lecture with York Museums Trust for British Science Week.
