Early Years Explorers – Activities for children aged two to five years old which include songs, stories, games and craft activities. Sessions are based on familiar preschool play areas, which are enhanced to help children learn about the museum’s collections and exhibitions through play. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the Early Years curriculum.

Skeletons – Find the bones in the sand, put together the skeleton jigsaw and listen to the skeleton story.

Meet some objects from our collection who need your love!

Some objects from the York Castle Museum’s collection have ‘submitted’ a dating profile. They have all once been loved and now need someone new to love them.

You’ll have 2 minutes with each object to look at their profile and find out more about their past.

After 2 minutes, you’ll score each object – the one with the most points will be placed in our Museum of Broken Relationships exhibition as our ‘most dateable object’.
