Museum Baby (under two years old) – Special baby sessions linked to exhibitions, including songs and sensory activities for babies and their carers. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the early years Curriculum. A perfect introduction to museums!

Emergency services – Play with the toy police cars, find the toys the burglar has stolen and listen to the fire engine story.

CANCELLED - WEA Life Drawing Course

Unfortunately this event has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Working with a life model, experienced artist and tutor, Rosie Skaife D’Ingerthorpe will lead this 2 session course (28 April and 5 May) designed to improve students drawing skills using a range of materials.

£36 per person for the full course or free to those on means tested benefits. Gallery admission included.

Guide's Gallery Talk

Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

Please note that talks are subject to the availability of our guides.

Free with admission, no need to book.
