Owl Pellets – Sat 28 Jan 2017
With the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch taking place in the Museum Gardens, why not join us in the Yorkshire Museum to learn more about birds as we embark on dissecting owl pellets?
An owl swallows its prey whole and regurgitates the indigestible remains such as bones, hair or fur in the form of pellets. What will you find in this amazing day of discovery? Compare your findings to our rodent skeletons to see if you can identify what was for dinner last night!
This activity takes place 11.00am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 4.00pm.
In addition, there will be opportunity to get up close to our collection of bird skulls in our volunteer-led ‘Hands on Here!’ activity 10am to 4pm (subject to the availability of our volunteers – please ask our Welcome Team on arrival for further information).
Free with admission, no need to book.
Entrance to the museum is FREE to York Residents with a valid York Card or York student ID on 28 & 29 January 2017.
