Making a group or school visit to York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum or York Art Gallery

School Trips In York Plan Your Visit

We are taking bookings for self-guided visits made by UK schools to the Yorkshire Museum, York Castle Museum, and York Art Gallery.

We are currently in the early stages of relaunching our schools learning programme following the pandemic and are working at a limited capacity. As such, we are unable to offer any of the led workshops that formed part of our pre-pandemic programme.

If you are looking to book a visit on behalf of a Further or Higher Education organisation, or a school from outside of the UK, then please complete a group booking request form or email group.bookings@ymt.org.uk

Entry Fees

There is no entry fee for any Primary School and Secondary School groups (Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4) visiting from a school within North Yorkshire. Entry fees still apply for groups visiting from any independent/private schools.

For all other school groups, the following entry fees will apply:

School Child Additional Adult (in excess of free adult/child ratio)
Castle £4.00 £8.00
Yorkshire £3.00 £6.00
Art Gallery £3.75 £7.50

Making a booking

All school visits must be booked in advance. Groups that arrive without pre-booking will risk being turned away.

Please note that due to the financial impact of the pandemic our sites are still operating at a limited capacity, and we are only able to accommodate a certain number of school visits per week. Bookings will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are currently only able to facilitate self-led visits to our sites and are not running any form of led workshops at this present time.
