Meet our strict schoolteacher who will lead you through the ‘three Rs’, drill and an object lesson in our recreated schoolroom. Behaviour and manners need to be at their best as there’s always the threat of the cane or the back straightener! This session is for a maximum of 18 adults. £45

Tour of Kirkgate (45 minutes)

Hear the stories behind the original shops in York that inspired Kirkgate, England’s oldest recreated street. Discover what life was like for those living in York in the late 1800s and how wealth affected their lives. This session is for a maximum of 15 adults. £45

Prison Life – A Tour with Original Objects to Handle (45 minutes)

The site where the museum now stands has been a place of justice and imprisonment for around 1,000 years. Visit the recreated prison and find out about the poor sanitary arrangements, the punishments and the exercise that felons faced every day. The tour is followed by the opportunity to handle original prison objects from the past two centuries. This session is for a maximum of 15 adults. £45
