Join one of our knowledgeable volunteers every Tuesday and Thursday for a free talk from 12pm. The subject will vary but will relate to one of the displays in the museum.

One, Two, Buckle My Shoe – Sole Searching Georgian Footwear

Explore the fascinating story of women’s historic footwear with York Castle Museum’s Helen Thornton. Helen will lead you on a journey from the Gorgeous Georgians right through to the Racy Regency using stunning examples of women’s shoes from the museum collection. Find out about cutting-edge Georgian footwear fashions and political impact on key styles.

This session will last one hour and include a talk about shoes as well as an opportunity to view and handle objects at the end.
