Eleanor Brooke-Peat, Curator of Collections & Archives, Castle Howard
Included with gallery admission

Castle Howard is renowned as one of the great Baroque palaces of England, but perhaps less well known are the connections between the house and the celebrated Arts & Crafts designer William Morris. This talk from Eleanor Brooke-Peat, Curator at Castle Howard, explores how the 9th Earl and Countess of Carlisle’s friendship with Morris influenced the decoration of their palatial home, and celebrates this often-overlooked period in the decorative history of the house.

Eleanor Brooke-Peat is the Curator of Collections & Archives at Castle Howard, near York. She has a focused interest in the decorative arts and historic interiors, and the recent discovery of an extensive collection of 19th century wallpapers and textiles at Castle Howard has inspired her ongoing research into the subject.
