Early Year Explorers – Sound – Thu 15 Nov 2018

Early Years Explorers – Activities for children aged two to five years old which include songs, stories, games and craft activities. Sessions are based on familiar preschool play areas, which are enhanced to help children learn about the museum’s collections and exhibitions through play. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the Early Years curriculum.

Sound – Make a shaker and join in with our fun ‘Guess the Sounds’ game.

Life Drawing – Thu 15 Nov 2018

This two-day course (8 November and 15 November) is designed to improve your drawing skills using a range of materials.

The course is £40 per person, or free to those on means tested benefits (gallery admission included).

York Observatory Open Day – Thu 15 Nov 2018

Venue: York Museum Gardens

Built in 1832 and 1833 and restored in 1981, York Observatory (which is nestled in York Museum Gardens) is the oldest working observatory in Yorkshire.

It houses a 4inch refractor telescope made by Thomas Cooke in 1850.

Opening hours are subject to the availability of volunteers, so please contact us ahead of your visit.

Our open days are free and there’s no need to book.

Join one of our knowledgeable volunteers every Tuesday and Thursday for a free talk from 12pm. The subject will vary but will relate to one of the displays in the museum.

Included in admission, no need to book.
