Visit the Castle Kitchen during the York Food Festival to find out about Anzac biscuits, a popular food item from the First World War. Discover how to make them and take a recipe home – you might even get to try some!

Drop in from 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 4pm.

Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

Please note that talks are subject to the availability of our guides.
