Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

York Museum Garden Tours

Venue: York Museum Gardens

Meet inside the Museum Street gates and gain an insight into one of the most popular gardens in York. The gardens contain a wealth of plant life, botanical specimens and wildlife, as well as the spectacular ruins of St Mary’s Abbey and the Roman Multangular Tower. Our knowledgeable guides will show you the highlights of this truly unique garden.

Tours start at 1pm every Sunday and last approximately one hour.

Join us at the Yorkshire Museum for a family-friendly film screening in our auditorium!

Hiccup is a Norse teenager from the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. His progressive views make him a misfit, despite the fact that his father is chief of the clan. Tossed into dragon-fighting school, he endeavours to prove himself as a true Viking, but when he befriends an injured dragon he names Toothless, he has the chance to plot a new course for his people’s future.
