The Big Autumn Bird Watch – Sat 28 Oct 2017

The Big Autumn Bird Watch

Venue: Yorkshire Museum

This is the time of year when birds are feeding themselves up for the winter so why not join us in the Museum Gardens to do a spot of spotting? ‘Basecamp’ will be set up near the Multangular Tower lawn and two birdwatching walks will take place at 11:30am and 1:30pm, lasting about an hour each. Clipboards, pencils and tick-sheets are provided for anyone who wants to go off and birdwatch by themselves.

Join us in the final week of our Viking exhibition, Viking: Rediscover the Legend, to make your own version of the traditional Viking game Trip Trap Troll. Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

In association with Northern Potters and the Friends of York Art Gallery, the Centre of Ceramic Art (CoCA) are delighted to welcome Felicity Aylieff and Takeshi Yasuda for this year’s annual CoCA lecture, during which Aylieff and Yasuda will discuss their work in Jingdezhen, China.

Please note that this event takes place at the Yorkshire Museum.
