Come and meet costumed characters from York’s sweet past on Kirkgate, our recreated Victorian street. Look out for Sir Joseph Terry, Joseph Rowntree and Mary Ann Craven and hear about their world famous chocolates and sweets.

Chocolate and Sweet Treats – Discover what we have to offer for under 5s in our drop in Museum Monkeys sessions with a chocolate shop role play area, chocolate box making and chocolate stories. Available every day from 27 July to 3 September at 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.
