Early Years Explorers: Medieval – Thu 19 May 2016

Date: Thursday 19 May 2016, 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Venue: Yorkshire Museum

Yorkshire Museum – Early Years Explorers (two – five years old)

Activities for children aged two to five years old which include songs, stories, games and craft activities. Sessions are based on familiar preschool play areas, which are enhanced to help children learn about the museum’ collections and exhibitions through play. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the Early Years curriculum.

 

Medieval – Thursday 19th May, 10am – 11am

Make a stained glass window, have a feast and listen to the story of the knight.

 

Museum Monkeys Events for the under 5s – sessions are FREE and run team time only.

Museum admission applies, FREE with valid YMT card.

Life Drawing & Painting Course – Thu 19 May 2016

Date: Thursday 19 May 2016, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Venue: York Art Gallery

A four week course under the guidance of artist and experienced tutor, Rosie Skaife D’Ingerthorpe. No previous experience of life drawing is necessary, although some experience of drawing would be useful.

In association with the Workers’ Educational Association.

Dates for the course are: 28 April, 5 May, 12 May and 19 May 2016.

£66.15 per person for the full course (gallery admission applies).

Exhibition Practices: Sculpture & the Site-Specific – Thu 19 May 2016

Running alongside the Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition is a dynamic series of lunchtime talks, which are open to the public and free to attend. Taking place in the gallery at York St Mary’s, the talks are led by industry experts, including curators and artists.

In this talk, Sophie Raikes (Assistant Curator at Henry Moore Institute) discusses ways of exhibiting temporary and site-specific sculpture and installation, identifying how three-dimensional works within the Art Prize Exhibition interact with each other as well as the unique architecture of York St Mary’s.

The Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition 2016 at York St Mary’s is open to 29 May 2016, Wednesdays to Sundays, 12-4pm.

The talk and admission to the exhibition are both free. No need to book.
