- Description
- A broken rectangular glass fragment; part of a unipartite panel showing a donor figure kneeling to dexter before the standing Virgin carrying the Christ child, whom she is about to feed from her breast. The donor, a tonsured cleric, is being presented to the Virgin by someone holding a chalice. He wears a fur-lined hood and a capa negra. The inscription ‘Tu mat’ (er) es misericordia’ (you are the mother of mercy) is painted on a scroll which emanates from the kneeling figure’s mouth. The scene is given perspective through the modelling, shadows and the floor tiles. Part of a yellow stain border is visible. All the edges are grozed except for the broken edge.
Also a fragment of another figure from this same scene with hand gesturing to dexter, possibly carrying a book.
