The fragment is a part of a rectangular mosaic floor making the entrance to the building. The central roundel encircles a female bust. Roman style hair and most of her face are visible. As the label describes, 'The face is deliberately shaded with highlights on the left cheek bone and down the right side of the nose and with shadows down the left side of the face and under the chin'.
Witts, P. 2010. re-interprets the face as an effeminate image of Bacchus, with the 'ribbons' potentially misinterpreted as grape clusters.
