Description
Sampler, unframed. Worked on fine canvas in wool. Backed with white linen and edged with brown cotton. Single, yellow line border. Six rows of mixed alphabet, numerals, vowels and motifs including stars, trees and animals. Worked in cross stitch and Algerian eye stitch. The lower part is filled with motifs, a large, central tree in crewel work, with flowers, figures and animals in cross and Algerian eye stitch. The worker's name, age and date are along the bottom.
