Description

Earlier variant of the so called 'Gothic Hilt' sword. With curved pipe back blade. Cast and gilt copper alloy basket hilt, with with outer guard of bars with a cartouche showing trefoil of feathers, with rigid inner guard. The blade is that of a light cavalry sabre with the etched monogram of "WRIV". Wooden grip covered with shagreen and wire, part broken off and missing. gilding worn.
