From dinosaurs and deep sea monsters, to hot cross buns and fun with flowers, there is something to entertain every member of the family this Easter at the Yorkshire Museum, York Castle Museum and York Art Gallery.

 

Yorkshire Museum

Join us this Easter as we open our doors on Yorkshire’s Jurassic World. Come along and experience three immersive environments as you come face to face with fossils from Coral Seas, marine reptiles from the Deep Oceans and Alan the Sauropod in Dinosaur Country!

Family Fun in the Science Lab
Daily 24 March – 8 April, 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm
Enjoy creating a dinosaur skeleton in our dedicated learning space or have a go at our dino sorting games as you begin to understand some simple classification rules. Included in admission, no need to book.

Jurassic Trail
Daily 24 March – 15 April
Learn to be a palaeontologist as you take our trail around the new gallery with your ‘field notebook’. Take rubbings and make sketches as you understand more about the hidden secrets beneath our feet. Included in admission, no need to book.

Jurassic Museum Monkeys
24 March – 8 April, 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm
Discover what we have to offer for under 5s in our drop in Museum Monkeys sessions this Easter. Make the ammonite puzzle, match the dinosaur bones and play with the Jurassic sea creatures. Included in admission, no need to book.

 

York Castle Museum

A Flavour of a Victorian Easter

Hot cross buns! Hot cross buns! One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns! Discover more about the history of Easter traditions and enjoy demonstrations of making hot cross buns using Victorian recipes – you might even get to try some! Included in admission, no need to book.

Create at the Castle

Enjoy family-friendly arts and crafts activities exploring Victorian Easter card designs inspired by our historic collection. All materials are provided. Included in admission, no need to book.

Follow our Easter trail to solve the clues around the museum and enter our prize draw to win a sweet treat. 50p per trail (admission applies), no need to book.

 

York Art Gallery

Fill the Vase with Flowers – Drawing Activity

Pick up a trail when you arrive, then explore the gallery to find the flowers and draw them to fill your empty vase. Remember to collect a sticker from our Visitor Experience Welcome Team when you’ve finished! Included in admission, no need to book.

Frogs and Flowers in the Studio
