- Description
- Oval intaglio, flat above and below. Engraved on upper surface with a male figure nude? and striding left holding a patera or wreath in an outstretched right hand. His left arm holds a think, curbed object, thicker at the top - possibly a crop. A small dog is depicted prancing around his feet and looking upwards to the figure with mouth open. Possibly Mars or Bonus Eventus. The intaglio has been exposed to high heat and has potentially discoloured the upper surface to a milky-white, where the base remains a darker colour. The upper surface is cracked diagonally through the objects held in each arm.
