- Description
- The maker of this bedcover applied her initials and the date - YGF 1816 - in the centre of her work, but we do not know who she was, or where the bedcover was made. The small central panel of white cotton is enclosed by eleven patchwork borders made up of squares and triangles. Block- and roller-printed dress and furnishing fabrics have been used; the earliest are from about 1805. The bedcover is backed with unbleached cotton with a thin wadding, and the central wave and wineglass quilting patterns are surrounded by a deep border of square diamonds.
