Enjoy the beautiful artwork on display accompanied by a live DJ set of ambient and experimental music inspired by, made for or made by plants. Delicious floral cocktails will be available from York Art Gallery’s cafe, Sketch.

York Art Gallery commissioned York based artist Jade Blood to create an installation for the exhibition, and the exciting work titled Gardeners’ World, features cake throughout as a symbol of indulgence and a metaphor for climate emergency through an eco-feminist lens. Jade invited long-term collaborator, Melanie Alexandrou to create recipes using plants and flowers for a free limited edition zine which is available for visitors to read alongside the installation. Utilising plants and flowers from York Art Gallery’s Edible Wood in the Artists’ Garden, come along to this Gallery Late and decorate your very own mini vegan cake to take home (or eat right away!).
