The original Eboracum fortress, built more than 1,900 years ago, established the centre of York and a pattern of streets that still exist today.

Walk in the footsteps of the Ninth and the Sixth Roman legions to discover how they shaped the city, looking at the archaeological evidence for the fortress, as well as examining parts of the fortress still standing above ground.
