An 8 week course run by The Creative Space, exploring the relationship between mindfulness and creativity.

180th anniversary of Queen Victoria proposing marriage to Albert: Dressmaking Workshop – Tue 15 Oct 2019

Date: Tuesday 15 October 2019, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Venue: York Art Gallery

The 15th October marks the 180th anniversary of Queen Victoria proposing marriage to Albert.

To mark the event work alongside artist Alison Welsh, embellishing a crinoline inspired dress with buttons. Take inspiration from the ceramic buttons of Dame Lucie Rie surrounding you whilst you stitch under the Victorian roof space of CoCA, York Art Gallery Centre of Ceramic Art.

The resulting dress will remain on display in the exhibition.

Drop-in artist-led workshop suitable for adults and children over the age of 8 with accompanying adults. Baby friendly resources are available.

Included in Art Gallery admission. No need to book.

Alison Welsh is Head of Fashion Research at Manchester Metropolitan University and is based within the Manchester Fashion Institute. She is a fashion designer and educator who additionally works with communities and museums, advocating fashion and textiles as instruments for social change.
