Toys

We invite early year explorers to the York Castle Museum to play with traditional toys, look at toys from the collection and make a sock puppet toy.

Activities for children aged two to five years old which include songs, stories, games and craft activities. Sessions are based on familiar preschool play areas, which are enhanced to help children learn about the museum’ collections and exhibitions through play. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the Early Years curriculum.

Sessions are now FREE! Museum admission applies for adults. (Free admission for under 5’s) Booking Essential

MICHAEL LYONS: ANCIENT MODERN- A CURATOR'S TOUR

Join Curator of Fine Art Becky Gee on a tour of the exhibition “Michael Lyons : Ancient & Modern”. Becky will expand on the themes of the exhibition as well as revealing the ways in which the unique setting of the Artists Garden and Edible Wood has been enhanced by Lyons’ monumental sculptures.

Please note the Tour begins in the Artists Garden on the 8 August 12:30 – 1 pm & 5:30 – 6 pm and it is free with the general admission. There is no need to book.
