The Romans Return to March on York!

The Legions of Rome return to invade the ancient City of York for the annual Eboracum Roman Festival with events taking place from May 31- June 2.
From 1 – 2 June, Roman Eboracum comes to life in the historic York Museum Gardens as the Six Legions and their families set up a living history camp. Visit the many stalls for cookery, craft, and weaponry demonstrations, sign your children up for the Kids Army, follow the Roman Parades and discover York’s Roman history through some of Britain’s greatest treasures at the Yorkshire Museum.
New for 2019: On Friday 31st May join us for Romans in the North, The John Hampshire Memorial Symposium in association with the Yorkshire Philosophical Society. Explore recent archaeological fieldwork, research and community projects at this fascinating and insightful one day symposium which brings together a range of expert speakers from York and beyond. Tickets are £7.50 and can be purchased through the website.
Richard Saward, head of visitor experience at York Museums Trust, said: “The Eboracum Roman Festival returns to celebrate York’s rich and internationally significant Roman history.
“Join us as we transport visitors to Eboracum with a living history camp, cooking, weaponry and fashion demonstrations. Follow the Roman Emperor, six Roman Legions and Roman civilians as they march through the iconic streets of York in the surroundings of Roman ruins and some of the finest Roman artefacts in the UK.
“From in-depth expert talks, best-selling authors and archaeology zones to the popular Kids Army and children’s craft activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy!”
The festival is FREE. 20% discount the Yorkshire Museum is available on production of the festival leaflet.
