Description
Fragment of flute made from a swan's or crane's bone with three finger holes. Waterman 1959 describes it and YORYM : C666 as "Two flutes of hollow bone, fractured at both ends were found in Clifford Street. Similar objects were common over a long period and have been found on Viking sites eg at Hedeby and at the late Saxon town at Thetford, Norfolk." This example is the longer of the two.
