- Description
- Double edged blade with no fullers. Plain steel basket hilt of conventional design, heart shaped piercings. Type with guard terminating in a ring under the pommel. Bun shaped pommel with prominent knop. Grip bound with shagreen and wire. There is a crimson tassel fixed under the pommel and a leather insert in the guard, red on the outside, white inside. Blade is etched with maker's details, scottish symbolism including thistle designs, Royal arms and 'HIGHLAND INFANTRY' around a French horn style bugle. Steel scabbard. of correct type with ball terminal rather than a chape.
