About the talk

In the Mesolithic period, structures are often difficult to identify as little tangible evidence remains of the posts or construction materials. This makes opportunities to learn about the daily lives of hunter-gatherers incredibly rare. The oldest post-built structures excavated in Britain were found at Star Carr in North Yorkshire, dating to around 11,000 years ago. At least three structures were identified during excavations at the site from 2004-2015. In this talk, we will explore the evidence for structures at Star Carr and how we can access the daily tasks and activities undertaken by people living there.
