Join costumed interpreters from Days Gone By to learn more about York Minster’s Roman past.

What have you always wanted to ask a Roman? Have you ever wondered what life was like in York when the Romans lived here? Did you know that underneath York Minster are the remains of an ancient Roman army barracks? Now’s your chance to find out! Discover fascinating artefacts up close, from everyday food and clothing to jewellery and replica weapons.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. York Minster Adult admission includes free entry for up to 4 children aged 17 or under. Entry to York Minster is free for York residents with proof of address.

 Come watch our cookery demonstrations throughout the day of retro school pudding recipes including Jam Roly Poly, Chocolate Concrete and Cornflake Tart with Pink Custard. Tasters may be available if you’re lucky! 

 Pick up a recipe card or scan the QR code available to get the recipes straight to your phone to try recreate yourself at home.
