Yorkshire Museum – History in the Making
Join us as we carve and mould our way through history! The Yorkshire Museum is home to some of the most impressive Roman artefacts in Britain. Try your hand at Roman sculpture with a different material each week throughout August.
Soap Sculptures
Monday 1 August – Sunday 7 August
Be inspired by our Roman jet pendants. Carve your own portrait into a mini bar of soap to take away with you. Then you can wear it or wash with it!
Amazing Maize Modelling
Monday 8 August – Sunday 14 August
Have fun with this natural modelling material. Just add a little water and these a-maizing pellets will stick together allowing you to build a mini human sculpture, piece by piece.
Junk Modelling
Monday 15 August – Sunday 21 August
Let your imagination run riot as you reuse and recycle a variety of materials to create a sculpture inspired by the Roman objects in our collection.
Clay Sculptures
Monday 22 August – Sunday 28 August
Join us in our final week as we work with a more traditional sculpting material. Why not make a head pot or a Roman god?
Activities are available daily on the dates above at 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm.
