York Museums Trust Seeks to Appoint Three New Trustees to the Board from the Autumn of 2017

19 May 2017

The new appointments occur at an exciting time as the Trust pursues ambitious forward plans, including a major capital project for York Castle Museum, supporting the development of the Castle area as a cultural quarter; expanding YMT Enterprises to increase income streams and the resilience of YMT; increasing the frequency and profile of YMT’s programming and improving York’s and York Museums Trust’s profiles through local, regional and international leadership and partnerships.

YMT is also in a period of change following the appointment of a new Chief Executive in 2015 and the retirement of the current Chair in November 2018.

In the new Trustees, YMT seeks candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds who can empathise and contribute to the Trust’s local, national and international profile; people whose experience can support the Trust as it continues to strive for excellence in its programming and visitor experience while ensuring the organisation’s future sustainability.

Specifically, candidates are sought with sound leadership experience in business, education or museums/heritage and with the credibility to represent YMT at the highest levels. The ability to bring new networks of engagement to the Trust to expand its footprint in Yorkshire and the North of England and beyond will be important as, for one post at least, will be prior experience of involvement with a major capital project.

But above all, candidates for these roles must be able to demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for York Museums Trust and its vision and values.

YMT Trustee roles are non-executive and are unremunerated.
