Description
Saddle bow, decorated with interlocking triangular fields, bead mouldings separated by strips of horn and tinned nailhead ornament. Catalogued in Morris 2000, p. 2419 as follows: 'Oak: fragment: carved from split section of timber, rounded extension on one side is perforated by two augered peg holes: fragments of arched front grip and a lower bar remain; decorated on all surfaces except underside of extension with shallow relief carving of plaits and knot interlace in triangular and rectangular panels; strips of reed inlay fixed on by tin nails.
