- Postcard series published in book form, each card has a perforated line to allow it to be removed from the book. With reproductions of photographs showing topographical views of war damage in the Somme area of Northern France, some with troops and equipment. Reverse of each card is printed in English with general postcard layout including postage cost. Cover of stiff paper printed in colour with flags of allied nations and 'LL. BRITISH ADVANCE ON THE SOMME DETACHABLE POSTCARDS SERIE 18 (2nd Part)' also pencil inscription 'Mabel Walton'. Captions to the postcards are individual and in French and English but titled 'European War 1914-17'. One, 'Nesle.The British soldiers repairing the roads' has written in ink on reverse 'Private Herbert Walton 34223 / West Yorks / Wounded & Dysentry - Nesle 1916 [corrected to 1917]'.
