Description
Palette with a smooth upper surface, chamfered edges, inscription CANDIDUS scratched on the surface. Described in Eboracum as "Tablet fragment, of finely polished green slate, 2ins by 2ins, that is, about half the original size, with a bevelled egde. It was probably a palette for mixing ointments. Found in a grave in 1868, during the excavations near Scarborough Bridge. CANDIDVs 'Candida owns this'".
