- Description
- Broad double edged blade with short central fuller. One piece steel basket hilt with plain barred basket as pattern, with slitted guard. Ovoid pommel with bun shaped top is better made and finished than is usual for the type. painted of lacquered wire bound grip (possibly a Timperley repair). Marked "FERRARA" also a stamp in the shape of two lobes divided by an arrow with five more arrows emerging from same point on the base, the centre one straight the others arcing around it, both on both sides of the blade, with copper inlaid orb and cross on one face and a copper inlaid lion rampant on the other. all these marks may be spurious.
