- Pelta pattern and inscription, Julia Fortunata of Sardinia. Described in Eboracum as "Coffin of gritstone, 7ft by 1ft 10ins by 2ft 4ins with a gabled lid 9ins high. The inscription is on the front of the coffin in a moulded panel flanked by elaborate pelta-like insignia... IVL(IE) FORTVNATE DOMO SARDINIA VEREC(VNDIO) DIO GENI FIDA CONIVNCTA MARITO "To Julia Fortunata of Sardinia, faithful wife to her husband Verecundius Diogenes." Her husband's coffin was also found near Scarborugh Bridge, but is apparently now lost.
