How to Queer a Museum with Matt Smith – Sat 30 Oct 2021

Drawing on two of his exhibitions– Queering the Museum at Birmingham Museum and Losing Venus at the Pitt Rivers Museum – this session will explore how Matt has interrogated and subverted museum displays to allow queerness and LGBTQI+ lives to come to light, and questions whether the museum space is a good space to be queer. Practical, irreverent and relevant, the session will include hands on participation – you have been warned!
Matt is an artist who regularly works with museums and their collections. He was artist in Residence at the V&A and is Professor of Ceramics at Konstfack University, Stockholm.
This session is open to the LGBTQI+ Community and Allies. If you are interested in attending, please email Sas at Sarah.Yates@ymt.org.uk to book your place.
Refreshments will be provided.
