Dr Beatrice Bertram will deliver a talk on the Dieric Bouts-workshop painting St Luke Drawing the Virgin and Child (late 15^th century), on loan from the Bowes Museum. This major work was the inspiration behind the exhibition Making a Masterpiece: Bouts and Beyond, which explores how artists have created images from the northern Renaissance to the present day, and how they project conceptions of their practices back out to the world.
