Calling all residents of the City of York! We are offering free entry across all our sites (York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum, and York Art Gallery’) to York residents on 31 January and 1 February 2026.
Tickets are limited and have now sold out. Proof of residence will be required at the door. Please note that we are only able to accept postcodes under York City Council.

Join us as we kick off LGBT History Month 2026 in York with an inspiring launch event celebrating diversity, inclusion and the rich history of LGBTQ+ communities. This year’s theme is “Science and Technology”, focusing on the stories and contributions that have shaped progress and continue to drive equality forward.

The event will feature:

  • Performers sharing lived experiences and insights on LGBTQ+ history and activism.
  • Talks exploring current challenges and opportunities for inclusion.
  • Community Organisations highlighting local projects and initiatives.
  • Networking opportunities to connect with advocates, allies, and community members.

Free and open to all – everyone is welcome, although donations are appreciated. Donations will be held by York LGBT Forum (registered charity 1162234)

Let’s come together to honour the past, celebrate the present and inspire a future where equality and diversity thrive.
