Have your say on York Museums Trust and its future development of York Castle Museum

DATE: 14 June 2019

York Museums Trust would like to hear your thoughts on the charity and its ambitious plans to transform York Castle Museum.

The fundraising team have created a survey to gather information on the perceptions of York Museums Trust, its venues and collections, as well as York Castle Museum’s Capital Project and the ways the public may like to support it.

The survey will help the Trust understand the demographics of its different audiences and what they currently like and dislike about the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens, York Art Gallery, York St Mary’s and York Castle Museum.

It will also ask for views of any recent interactions with the Trust,  such as e-mail correspondence or invitations to events, to help us improve the way we communicate more effectively with our audiences.

The York Castle Museum Capital Project would see the major development of the museum and the survey will explore the ways audiences may want to support it by understanding the types of charities and projects that are interested in. This will help shape the future fundraising strategy for the project.

Rebecca Williams, fundraising manager for York Museums Trust, said: “Through this survey we hope to gather the thoughts and opinions of current and new audiences to help us improve our understanding of their current perceptions and motivations. This is a really exciting time for York Museums Trust, with the proposed Castle Capital Project the charity’s most ambitious redevelopment. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas to help us achieve this goal which is a key part of the transformation of the whole area known as the Castle Gateway.”
