Description

Theodolite and leather box. The theodolite (a) is of a green colour., and was used by the military for surveying ground. The main part of it is telescope-like, and has a small lens at one end, and a larger lens at the other. The large lens has a swivelling lens cap. The main telescope-like part of the theodolite has two sights upon it, off centre. Also, on the left of the main part, is a spirit level. On the right is a dial that turns. This main part of the instruments has a large dial beneath. Under the main part is also dials and another spirit level. The leather box (b) is lined inside in suede, and is scuffed and marked where the instrument lies. The box has a strap and two straps and buckles to fasten.
