Balsamarium (incense container) in the form of the bust of young boy. The top of the head consists of an oval opening which is closed by a hinged cover. On either side is a loop by which the object can be suspended; the left-hand loop has a fragment of chain remaining. The base is missing.
One of five balsamarium known from Roman Britain and the only example depicting an infant. Balsamaria are, elsewhere, associated with grave goods and the Bacchic cult.
