Description and illustration (figure7.10) in Waterman 1959 p. 73: ' In a few cases handles of wood and bone are preserved. This form of knife is recognised in Scandinavia during the Viking Age, and occurs at the Saxon town of Thetford, in Norfolk, the offsetting of blade form tang and the greater length of the tang in proportion to the blade being consistant features.'
