York Festival of Ideas – Curator’s Talk – Tue 12 Jun 2018
Join us for a special curator’s talk as part of the York Festival of Ideas 2018.
The Archaeology of Magic: Charms and Amulets – Magic is the process of using certain rituals, in combination with special objects, images, words, or gestures, to cause a supernatural effect – often as a kind of protection. Magic has been practised in one form or another for centuries and archaeology allows to find its traces. Using objects from the Yorkshire Museum’s collections, this talk will highlight some of the weird and wonderful amulets and charms the people of Yorkshire have used to protect themselves.
Included in admission, no need to book.
